The above product was a challenge for our toolmakers as this particular part was nine – four cavity molds with twenty-five % cavity spares on fragile cores. A breakdown of the numbers:

  • 120 laminated circuits per part
  • 3-piece constructions of back half circuits
  • 1 piece front half circuit
  • 120 × 3 x 25% spares = 450 per cavity
  • 120 × 1 x 25% spares = 150 per cavity
  • 600 laminated cores per cavity x 4 cavities
  • 2400 per mold x 9(molds) = 21600 cores

The number of cores in the period of time for delivery was not our only problem the accuracy from the 1st to last circuit for a product tolerance of +/-.004” divided by 120 laminated cores equates to each core thickness accuracy of +/-.000020, had us rethinking and retooling our manufacturing process to the maximum efficiency and accuracy. Success was achieved with the exportation of the molds to China and the United Kingdom.

No project is too large we have recently completed the evaluation of 118 molds that a customer had inherited from a company acquisition that had been in production in Mexico, two of our staff visited the plant in Mexico for an overview of the project ahead
the customer’s costs, expectations and immediate goals. The molds were then shipped to Executool’s facility for a full individual evaluation for the recommended repairs, spare tooling and required cavitations levels for requirements of future estimated annual orders.

During each molds evaluation production orders were maintained and fulfilled to meet the customers existing commitments therefore giving Executool the ability to fully understand the molding capability of each mold and recommend coherent advise to the customer of what needs are required for a cost efficient cost effective repair and recondition of the mold for future orders.

Proto-Typing

Small molded parts can be proto-typed in a little less than one week in our custom small unit frame. With the cavity blocks already prefabricated, from hardened and ground tool steel, it is ideal for small production runs.
